Surf Senegal
“The sandy, rock–strewn shoreline is full of painted fishing boats and is framed between a long ochre cliff and a grassy headland; Ouakam’s rights freight–train across the shallow reef.”
From Drift’s recent story of a trip to Senegal.
They stayed at N’gor Island surfcamp. A place I’d like to visit sometime soon. It’s located right on N’Gor Island.
The waves look like fun. Here are some shots of spots like N’gor Rights and Ouakam by Greg Mignard from a trip there late last year: 2 weeks at N’gor village and Ouakam surfing.
Transworld surf have an article on taking a surf trip to Senegal which gives a good overview of the area including details on visas and food.
You can find some videos of Senegal surf about on the web. This one probably has the best waves (and some grainy charisma). The surf camp has put out a nice vid giving an overview of the local spots and the camp itself.
We’ve added spots from Senegal to Surftourist.com, but as you can see from the map: there’s a massive coastline. Who knows what else is out there!
