Introducing secret spots

Ever since we launched Surftourist.com we’ve been trying to manage the friction between sharing awesome surf trips, spots, photos and videos with protecting lesser known spots from the marauding crowds.

We’ve just released a feature that allows the community to let us know that a spot is secret and we’ll keep it hidden. For details go here - http://surftourist.com/secret-spots

Obviously we’re not talking about Snapper, Bells and North Narrabeen, but those hidden gems that require a little local knowledge and persistence to find.

If you see a spot on the site you’d rather kept secret - simply go to the spot and click “let us know”.

The next thing to come on secret spots is allowing users to report photos of secret spots that are too revealing. We’ll then mark the photo as private, so only the user who uploaded it can view it.
